Paramount Pictures
and Regency have released the first trailer for Adam McKay's The Big Short.
Best known for the comedies, Step Brothers and Anchorman, The Big Short will mark McKay's
first foray into drama, and for that he assembled an outstanding cast that
includes Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, and Melissa
Leo.
Based on the book of the
same name by Moneyball author Michael Lewis, The Big Short follows four
outsiders played by Pitt, Bale, Carell, and Gosling, who saw what everyone else
refused to, the impending economic collapse of 2008.
According to a fly on
the wall, Paramount has seen a rough cut of McKay's drama and asked the
director if he could wrap things up for a 2015 release, meaning they are clearly
thinking that the drama could snatch some awards.
Also starring Tracy
Letts, Finn Wittrock, and Hamish Linklater, The Big Short will a limited
release on December 11 before going wide on December 23.
When four outsiders
saw what the big banks, media and government refused to, the global collapse of
the economy, they had an idea: The Big Short.
Their bold investment leads them into the dark underbelly of modern banking
where they must question everyone and everything. Based on the true story
and best-selling book by Michael Lewis (The Blind Side, Moneyball),
and directed by Adam Mckay (Anchorman, Step
Brothers) The Big Short stars
Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt.
