Sony
Pictures Entertainment has released the first trailer for J. Blakeson's (The
Disappearance of Alice Creed) adaptation of The 5th Wave. Based on Rick
Yancey's bestseller sci-fi novel of the same name, The 5th Wave stars Chloë
Grace Moretz as Cassie Sullivan, a survivor of four exponentially deadly waves
of alien attacks. Now on the run, Cassie fights to save her brother before the
fifth and deadliest wave hits Earth.
Judging
from the trailer, The 5th Wave looks and sounds like yet another vague and generic
attempt at both sci-fi and YA that heavily borrows from other titles to build itself
a world. It has elements from Stephenie Meyer's The Host, the TV sci-fi drama
Falling Skies, and the alien spaceship looks disconcertingly reminiscent of
Neill Blomkamp's District 9.
Opening
on January 15, 2016, The 5th Wave also stars Ron Livingston, Liev Schreiber,
Maika Monroe, Nick Robinson, Alex Roe, Zachary Arthur, Maggie Siff, and Tony
Revolori.

Moretz and based on the bestseller: In the new film The 5th Wave, four waves of
increasingly deadly attacks have left most of Earth decimated. Against a
backdrop of fear and distrust, Cassie is on the run, desperately trying to save
