In what sounds like an idea I had while smoking pot back in college, AMC is
developing a companion series to The Walking Dead's very own companion series,
Fear The Walking Dead, which will be available across multiple platforms, both
online and on TV, where it will air during the commercial breaks of the next
season of The Walking Dead.
Titled Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462, the 16-part series will be
written by L. Signorino and Mike Zunic, produced by Fear the Walking Dead
showrunner Dave Erickson and executive producer David Wiener, and directed by
Fear the Walking Dead's director of photography Michael McDonough.
As the title implies the new companion series takes place inside a plane
during the early stages of the zombie outbreak, as passengers come to the
realization that they are travelling with a flesh-eating monster.
Each episode of the new series will be less than one minute long, and will introduce a character that will jump over to Fear the Walking Dead when it returns for the second
season.
"‘Flight 462’ is a great extension of the world of ‘Fear’ and will
engage fans across multiple platforms with another riveting story set at the
start of the fall of civilization. We are thrilled to be collaborating with
Dave Erickson and David Wiener on another piece of original content. Watching
how they’ll bring one of these new characters to the second season of ‘Fear’
will be really exciting for viewers to follow," said Joel Stillerman, the
President of Original Programming and Development for AMC and Sundance TV, in
the press release.
