Starz has released a
two-minute inside look at Ash vs Evil Dead, the much-anticipated
return of director Sam Raimi, star Bruce
Campbell, and executive producer Rob Tapert's to the world of boomsticks and
deadites after originally teaming up for the 1981 horror film.
The 10 half-hour episodes will see Ash (Campbell)
having to return to his old chainsaw-handed monster self after spending the
last 30 years avoiding having to deal with the responsibility of saving the
world from the terrors of the Evil Dead.
Scheduled to premiere in late 2015 the series also
stars Lucy Lawless as Ruby a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of
the Evil outbreaks. Jill Marie Jones as Amanda Fisher, a disgraced
Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his
responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner. Ray Santiago as Pablo
Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick. Mimi Rogers as Suzy Maxwell, a woman who is
reunited with her family and several uninvited guests after a freak accident,
and Dana DeLorenzo as Kelly Maxwell, Suzy's moody
wild child trying to outrun her past.
Raimi directs the first episode, which he co-wrote
with Ivan Raimi, Tom Spezialy, and Craig DiGregorio, who will act as the series
showrunner.
Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario
and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding
responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite
plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his
demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to
release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.
The cast is led by Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, “Burn Notice”) in
the role of Ash Williams, Lucy Lawless (“Salem,” “Spartacus”) as Ruby a
mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks, Jill
Marie Jones (“Sleepy Hollow”) as Amanda Fisher, a disgraced
Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his
responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner, Ray Santiago
(“Touch,” Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an
idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick and Dana DeLorenzo (A
Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child
trying to outrun her past.
