Known in the western
market for his roles in Fast & Furious 6, and the cult action martial arts
film The Raid, Indonesian actor Joe Taslim has joined the cast of director
Justin Lin's upcoming Star Trek Beyond, written by Simon Pegg, Doug Jung, and
based on characters by Gene Roddenberry.
Details on Taslim's
character are being kept under wraps, but according to THR sources, the actor
"is a key part opposite Elba", who has been cast as the main villain.
Set to open on July 8, 2016, Star Trek Beyond also stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Karl Urban, John Cho, and Sofia Boutella.
