When the first
promotional images from Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse were released on the
cover issue of Entertainment Weekly, fans of the titular villain, comics, and film
franchise were shockingly surprised with how similar the intimidating mutant
was to the godawful Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie villain, Ivan Ooze.
Now, while speaking
to Empire Magazine, Singer comes out in defense of Oscar Isaac's costume saying
that the villain will "be very similar to images in the
comic. There's obviously something very futuristic and yet ancient to the
design of both his costume and his physicality."
I'm not super well
versed in all the variations Apocalypse has had in the Marvel comics so I can't
attest to how faithful he is, but there were others that I know off that would on
the physical side instill greater fear in our heroes. But that's just my
opinion. What do you think of Apocalypse's look?
Opening on May 27, 2016, X-Men: Apocalypse stars Michael Fassbender,
Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Lucas Till, Rose
Byrne, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Lana Condor, Kodi
Smit-McPhee, Ben Hardy, Olivia Munn, Josh Helman, and Tómas Lemarquis.
