Martin Freeman On His Captain America: Civil War Role

British actor Martin Freeman garnered throughout his career a few fan favorite roles, including his most recognizable ones in The Office, The Hobbit, and of course, Sherlock, and now the actor is stepping into another realm of fandom with Captain America: Civil War.

Not much is known about the character Freeman will play in the Captain America threequel, but this past weekend while at the Giffoni Film Festival, Bad Taste caught up with the actor and asked him about his role in the film.

"Well, we can say, he works for the American government," Freeman revealed. "He works in conjunction with the superheroes, and certain agencies that help to tame the superheroes’ power, I suppose. So you’re not quite sure which side he’s on. It looks a little bit like he’s playing one game when actually he’s playing another. It’s the kind of character I like because it’s ambiguous and because you don’t know whether he’s good or bad. I like that area that isn’t black or white. I like the grays, because I think there’s just more fun to be had in not playing one obvious line, I like that."

Freeman also revealed that his character would have neither a British nor a Minnesota (Fargo) accent. He will however speak with an "East Coast American" one.

Surprisingly, rumors surrounding Freeman's role did not come thick and fast, but awhile back the Latino Review reported that they had heard that the actor would be playing Everett Ross, a government liaison, who becomes a Wakandian expert and a friend of T'Challa, the Black Panther.

We still don't know the ins and outs of Civil War, but the character seems to fit it and Freeman like a glove.
