Although Marvel's main
storyline currently centers on large global threats as well as visitors from
beyond the stars, they recently started to focus on street level crime.
Daredevil was a pleasantly well-crafted surprise that escaped from the studio's
family friendly safe zone and delved into a darker and dare I say it, grittier
reality, which hopefully will extend and cross to the rest of Netflix's Marvel original
database, which also includes Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and to sum
it all up, The Defenders.
Speaking to
Entertainment Tonight, Marvel's head of television, Jeph Loeb teased how
Daredevil and the upcoming Jessica Jones might crossover, and how they probably
won't.
"Without giving
anything away, they’re in the same area," Loeb says. "In some cases
they are in the same neighborhood. One of the things that is important to us
is, when you enter the police station, it’s the same police station. When you
go to the hospital, you start to see the same people. [But] we don’t want
people suddenly going, ‘Wait, is that Matt Murdoch that’s walking down the
street?’ Because that’s going to feel odd, and in a weird way feel false."
Jessica Jones is expected to be launched later this year, while the second season of Daredevil will be released in 2016.
