One of last year's
most underappreciated gems was the big screen adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka's
All You Need Is Kill, or Edge of Tomorrow as it was re-titled, starring Tom
Cruise and Emily Blunt. While at the New York premiere of Mission: Impossible -
Rogue Nation, MTV caught up with Cruise, who confirmed that he pitched ideas
for a sequel to the film's director, Doug Liman, and writer Christopher
McQuarrie.
"“I pitched it to McQuarrie and
Doug. We were there one night and I was like, I’ve got an idea for it,"
Cruise said without giving a hint as to what that idea was, but whatever it was
it involved the return of Blunt as Rita, Lt. Col. Bill Cage's (Cruise) love
interest and general badass. However, it seems that the actress might not be up
to task just yet, as according to Cruise she asked for another year after he talked
to her about doing a sequel.
It did said Live.Die.Repeat
on the poster so a sequel was inescapable.
