Not unlike the film series it spanned out from,
it seems that Warner Bros. is looking at Creed as a potential franchise
starring Michael B. Jordan as the son of the late boxing Heavyweight Champion
of the World, Apollo Creed.
"[Creed is] definitely not one
and done. Definitely a franchise, for sure," revealed Jordan in an
interview to ComicBook.com. "We're already thinking about the next ones,
too," adding that we will see more of Adonis.
Directed by Ryan Coogler, Creed follows the life of Adonis Johnson (Jordan) the son of the world heavyweight champion Apollo
Creed, who died before he was born. Still, there’s no denying that boxing
is in his blood, so Adonis heads to Philadelphia to train under Rocky Balboa (Sylvester
Stallone) and follow on his father footsteps.
Opening
on November 25, Creed also stars Tessa Thompson (Selma) as Bianca a local singer/songwriter
that becomes involved with Adonis, Phylicia Rashad as Mary Anne Creed, Apollo's
widow, and English pro-boxer Anthony Bellew as "Pretty" Rick Conlan
as the current boxing champion.
