Though not exactly
unexpected, Deadline is reporting that Ben Affleck will be co-writing the next
Batman standalone movie with DC Entertainment CCO, and comic book writer, Geoff
Johns. Affleck will also star (obviously) and direct the project, but only
after he completes filming his long gestating adaptation of Dennis Lehane
novel, Live By Night, which "oddly" enough has been greenlit by
Warner Bros., the home of DC. Live By Night should begin production this November
with Elle Fanning, Sienna Miller, Zoe Saldana, and Affleck himself.
According to the news
outlet, "Affleck and Johns are well in synch and have more than found
their rhythm. In fact, they are likely to turn in a script before the end of
the summer, prior to Affleck going off to direct Live By Night in
November."
Furthermore, Deadline also claims that Batman's
first solo outing in the DC Cinematic Universe will show the effects that the
events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League will have on
the character.
