After
Halloween, The Fog, Assault on Precinct 13, and The Thing, it's time for Big
Trouble In Little China to join the list of John Carpenter films getting
remade, or expanded (The Thing).
According to
The Wrap, Dwayne Johnson is in talks to produce and star in the remake, which
will count with a script penned by X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and
Zack Stentz.
Unlike other
of Carpenter's "weird" films, Big Trouble In Little China is on a
league of its own. The story follows Jack Burton, an all-American trucker who inadvertently
gets embroiled in a centuries-old mystical battle in San Francisco's Chinatown.
If Johnson
signs on to the project, he would take on the lead role, which was played by
Kurt Russell in the original film.
Also in the
Carpenter-remake pipeline is a new Escape from New York, which as far as I know
is still in active development.
