Other than the X-Men and Fantastic Four,
20th Century Fox also has another team of superheroes, which they will be
rebooting shortly I assume. According to Variety, Chronicle, and Predators
producer John Davis and his Davis Entertainment production company are onboard to
develop new adaptation of Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill's The League
Of Extraordinary Gentlemen graphic novel.
The Victorian set
movie finds literary characters such as Captain Nemo, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,
Dorian Gray, the Invisible Man and others teaming up to save the world from
certain annihilation.
Directed by Stephen
Norrington (Death Machine, Blade), the 2003 film was expected to be the first
of a series of films, but poor reviews and a poor big box-office return stopped
the franchise from further development. The film was also Connery's last acting
role before retiring, and the last feature film the Norrington directed.
In 2013 Fox tried to
develop a small screen version of the graphic novel with Michael Green (Green
Lantern) serving asshowrunner, and executive producer, and though a pilot was
made, it didn't move forward as a series.
