It looks like both
Marvel and Sony have narrowed down the list of candidates to helm the upcoming
Spider-Man reboot.
According to
Deadline, Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies), Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect), Ted Melfi
(St. Vincent), Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite), and John Fracis Daley and Jonathan
M. Goldstein (Vacation) are on the list of directors being considered for the
job. However, the list doesn't seem to be all-inclusive, so other directors
might still pop up.
The decision on who
should direct the first Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man could be reached by
the end of the week, with Sony Motion Pictures president Tom Rothman having the
decisive vote.
The last time any
solid news regarding the choice of director for Spider-Man landed it implied
that Drew Goddard was in talks to both write and direct the project, but since
his name is omitted from the list I wonder if his experience with the now
defunct Sinister Six film left him disillusioned with the franchise all
together.
Spider-Man will hit
theaters on July 28, 2017.
