Universal Pictures has released nine new images from director Jon M. Chu's
live-action adaptation of the 1980's Jem and the Holograms cartoon tv show
created by Christy Marx (TMNT, Conan the Adventurer, G.I. Joe).
"It's actually
about a group of young people who are going to be inundated with this idea of
fame and fortune and products and stuff, and within all that, how do you stay
true to who you really are?" said director Jon M. Chu in an interview to
USA Today. "That's the real soul of the movie."
Jem and the Holograms stars Aubrey Peeples as Jem, an orphan who after
becoming an internet sensation goes on a music-driven hunt with her band, which
includes Hayley Kiyoko as Aja, Stefanie Scott as Kimber, and Aurora Perrineau
as Shana.
Set to be released on
October 23rd, Jem and the Holograms stars Juliette Lewis, Ryan Guzman, and
Molly Ringwald.
