Although Zack
Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is the one headlining 2016,
writer/director David Ayer take on the Suicide Squad is the one being most
talked about recently. Perhaps because it's a film that focuses on the villain(s)
instead of the hero, or because of the amount of star power, Suicide Squad
certainly is one of next year's most anticipated films.
In a behind-the-scenes piece, Toronto's Entertainment
City managed to get a few words out of Ayer about the film, and what he brings to it.
I’m all about
real drama, real performance and real people, so my twist on this is I’m
creating a family, I’m creating a brotherhood here. I’m creating a very real
chemistry and I have this incredible ensemble of actors lead by Will Smith who
are basically playing dimensional characters with lives and souls.
Opening on August 5, 2016, Suicide Squad stars Will
Smith as Deadshot, Jay Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Margot Robbie as Harley
Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Adewale
Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Jay Hernandez as El
Diablo, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Viola Davis as Amanda
Waller, Scott Eastwood, Jim Parrack, and Ike Barinholtz.
