It looks like Sony and Marvel have narrowed down the list of contenders to play Spider-Man in the upcoming reboot from two to one since we last reported on it.
The last we heard the race was between Asa Butterfield (Ender's Game), and
Tom Holland (In The Heart Of The Sea), but now it seems that Butterfield's name
is the only one remaining.
According to El Mayimbe, both studios have come to an agreement, and
decided to pursue the 18-year-old actor, Asa Butterfield, who is now in
official negotiations to play Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man in the upcoming
Captain America: Civil War, and then in his own standalone film.
Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6, 2016, while the solo
Spider-Man film opens on July 28, 2017.
