If nothing else, Sony Pictures has a bold plan for the
Jump Street franchise. According to The Wrap, Sony is
looking to expand the Jump Street franchise with a female-led spinoff, and a
crossover with another one of their hot properties, Men In Black.
Broad City writers Lucia Aniello, and Paul Down have
been tapped by the studio to pen the female-led spinoff film, which hopefully
will manage to capture the sarcasm of the previous two films, which made fun not
only of the state of cinema, but also of themselves.
No word on who could star in both films. The site
speculates that 50 Shades of Grey actress, Dakota Johnson, who had a role in
the first film could potentially be the lead in the female spinoff. However they
also say that Aniello, and Down could turn to the network that airs Broad City
for talent such as Amy Schumer, Jessica Williams and Broad City stars themselves, Ilana
Glazer and Abbi Jacobson.
As for the Men In
Black crossover it's unclear if Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones would be up for
it.
Channing Tatum, Jonah
Hill, Phil Lord, and Chris Miller are spearheading both projects.
