Years ago, before Disney
purchased Lucasfilm, and everything in it, George Lucas tried to no avail get a
Star Wars live-action tv series off the ground. He and producer Rick McCallum
were confident that they would start shooting those already written close to
100-episodes once the VFX costs become more affordable. Well that never happened
but the idea lingered.
According to Cinelinx (so
take it with a grain of salt) the live-action TV series is ramping up, but is
on a holding pattern until the shooting schedules for the films are figured out
because the idea is to film the series in between movies at the Pinewood sets.
Making use of the already
built sets to film the series would certainly give it an enormous production
value, plus since all is now canon, and all is
connected, it would certainly give the series more authenticity.
It's unclear if the series
would use or recycle any of Lucas previous scripts, which focused on a young
Han Solo, Lando, and Boba Fett, but that seems to go against the grain of what they are trying to do. Moreover the site claims that though they don't know who, they have
heard that Lucasfilm is toying with the idea of using one character from the
books in the series.
