It looks like Martin
Scorsese will be stepping into the boxing ring one more time after his 1980
award winning classic Raging Bull. Last year The Wolf of Wall Street scribe,
Terence Winter was deep into writing an untitled Mike Tyson biopic with Jamie
Foxx set to star, and now according with the actor, Martin Scorsese has come
onboard to direct what has all the signs of being an energetic, and dramatic rollercoaster
ride through the highs and lows of the famed boxer's life.
It was on Power 105's
The Breakfast Club while discussing his latest record You Changed Me that Foxx
broke the news.
I just went in with Paramount with Mike Tyson. So I’m
going to do the Mike Tyson story. Listen, to be in the same room pitching Mike
Tyson to Paramount, Mike Tyson is on one side, I’m on the other side and doing
Mike Tyson at the same time. And Martin Scorsese at the helm. This will be the
first boxing movie that Martin Scorsese has done since Raging Bull.
Scorsese is currently shooting Silence with Liam
Neeson, Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver, and Tadanobu Asano, and is rumored to
have a Frank Sinatra biopic in development, so it's unclear if Tyson's biopic
is next on the director's plate, or if he's going to wait.
