Despite being
predominately known for his comedic characters, Eddie Murphy has shown in the
past that he is capable of delve deep into more dramatic roles like his 2006
Academy Award nominee performance in Dreamgirls.
Now according to E!
Online, Murphy is in talks to star in what will probably be one of his most serious
roles to date. According to the site, Murphy is in talks to star in director
Lee Daniels's long gestating Richard Pryor biopic as LeRoy "Buck
Carter" Pryor, the father of comedian extraordinaire Richard Pryor, who
according with the latest reports will be played by Mike Epps. Kate Hudson is
also onboard as Jennifer Pryor, the comedian's wife.
The project could be
what Murphy creatively "needs". His last feature film A Thousand Words from 2012 was a box-office flop, and only managed to make half of its $40 million production
budget and furthermore it was almost universally panned by critics.
