Three times Academy
Award nominated actor Bradley Cooper is in talks to step behind the camera for
the very first time. The actor, who will also produce, is eyeing Warner Bros. long
in development remake of the 1937 film A Star is Born, which starred Fredric
March as an aging actor, who helps up and coming actress played by Janet Gaynor
to achieve her dreams of stardom. It's expected that Cooper will pick up the
project once he finishes the stage production of The Elephant Man currently in
London.
No actors have yet
been approached to star in the remake but it's possible that Beyonce Knowles will
once again be contacted to play the female lead, like she was when Clint
Eastwood was attached to direct. Funny enough Eastwood was also eyeing Cooper to
play the male lead.
This will be the
third remake of the original. The first one starring Judy Garland, and James
Mason dates from 1954 and was nominated for six Academy Awards. The second one
from 1976 starred Barbra Streisand, and Kris Kristofferson, and was nominated
for four Academy Awards.
