Academy
Award nominee and winner composer Alexandre Desplat was picked by director
Gareth Edwards to score Star Wars: Rogue One. The two previously worked on
Edwards' Godzilla.
Desplat
announced the news himself while on an interview with Radio Classique's Culture
Club. The composer won his first Oscar for his work on director Wes Anderson's
The Grand Budapest Hotel, and was previously nominated for The Queen, The
Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The King's Speech, Argo,
Philomena, and The Imitation Game.
At
this time not much is known about the plot for Rogue One, but we do know that
Gary Whitta penned the first draft and that Chris Weitz (Cinderella) is writing
the final script. Scheduled to start filming in London this summer, Star Wars:
Rogue One will star Felicity Jones (The Imitation Game) and will hit theaters
on December 16, 2016.
