A few days ago on February 7 during a panel at Wizard World Madison, The
Crow creator James O'Barr reveled that he would like to see actor Sam Witwer
replace Luke Evans as Eric Draven in the upcoming reboot.
Evans became attached to the project back in 2013, but because of constant delays,
his contract eventfully expired and they could no longer afford him, mainly
because of his big budget escapades in such franchises as The Hobbit, Fast
& Furious, and recently Dracula Untold.
O'Barr pointed out that he is actively seeking Witwer, and has made contact
with the actor, who would make his debut as leading man in a film, despite the
fact that he already lead such TV series as Being Human.
Besides Being Human Witwer is best known for his work on Smallville as
Doomsday, Battlestar Galactica as Crashdown, and as the voices of Starkiller in
the Force Unleash video games, and Darth Maul in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars
animated series.
If this seems like a step forward after a myriad of problems, think again
as according to O'Barr The Crow is already $20 million in debt, which for a
small production (I'm assuming) it's a lot.
