A couple of new
rumors from director Justin Lin's upcoming third installment of the new Star
Trek franchise have hit the web. It seems that a "Bryan Cranston-like"
villain role was written into the script, and that Paramount Pictures have
approached Cranston himself to play the part. Negotiations are underway but it's
unclear how things are going.
In addition, it looks
like "three major new female characters" have been added to the
franchise. One will be the President of the United Federation of Planets, the
other will be a Starfleet Captain and a reflection of Kirk, and the third one
will be Leonard "Bones" McCoy's ex-wife, who will stir old emotions.
For the President of
the United Federation of Planets the studio is looking to get an actress with
gravitas, and for the Starfleet Captain, Paramount is looking to get an actress
that can match Chris Pine's "energy and vitality".
Star Trek 3 is
schedule to hit theaters on July 8, 2016.
