Last week a report came out stating that Lucasfilm had set their eyes on
four actresses to play the lead role in Godzilla director Gareth Edwards Star
Wars spinoff. According to the report, Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), Felicity
Jones (The Theory of Everything), Rooney Mara (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo),
and her sister Kate Mara (House of Cards) were all up for the role. Well it
seems that the studio and director have come to an agreement and Maslany was
the one picked to headline the project.
As always take it with a grain of salt, but this follows the announcement
that the actress had to pull out of her Off-Broadway play due to scheduling
conflicts, which probably isn't her role in Orphan Black since she was already well
aware of that prior to signing on to do the play. Is it because she is heading to
the galaxy far, far way? Then again scheduling conflicts is the go to excuse
when actors aren't happy with a particular project, or negotiations have
failed.
What do you think?
