Before becoming an overnight
sensation for her role as Naomi Lapaglia in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall
Street, the Australian actress had to gain a thick Brooklyn accent. Now while
promoting her latest film Z for Zachariah at the Sundance Film Festival, Margot
Robbie spoke about what accent she believes Harley Quinn, her character in
writer/director David Ayer's Suicide Squad should be.
“None of
those things have been set in stone at this point, but according to the comics,
she’s from New York and I think Brooklyn, so there may be a slight… I couldn’t
imagine it would be as strong as The Wolf of Wall
Street accent," Robbie said. "The lingo will be the
difference between that and the other character I played in ‘Wolf’ but I don’t
know yet. We haven’t spoken about it.”
Scheduled to open on August 5, 2015, Suicide Squad stars
Will Smith as Floyd Lawton, aka Deadshot, Jai Courtney as Digger Harkness, aka
Captain Boomerang, Margot Robbie as Harleen Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn, Jared
Leto as the Joker, and Cara Delevingne as June Moone, aka Enchantress, and
Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.
