Well that's that. Following Tom Hardy's departing from writer/director
David Ayer's Suicide Squad all eyes turned to Oscar snubbed Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler)
to fill in and star as the leader of the Suicide Squad, Rick Flag. Now it seems
that things weren't meant to be and the actor has passed on the role.
When we first heard that Hardy had left the project the reason given was of
scheduling conflicts, however later on during the day the Latino Review claimed
that actually the real reason was that Hardy's role had been downsized in order
to cram in more Deadshot (Will Smith) and Joker (Jared Leto) scenes. Of course
nothing of this has ever confirmed so it may not be true, but if it is, then
it's understandable why Gyllenhaal opted not to reunite with his End of Watch
director.
Suicide Squad s set to hit theaters on August 5, 2016.
