With the
underperformance of The Expendables 3, Sylvester Stallone has decided to turn
to the names that made him who he is in the business, Rambo, and Rocky. In a
series of recent Tweets the actor revealed that he is heading to Philadelphia
to start shooting the Rocky spin-off, Creed starring Michael B. Jordan as the
grandson of Carl Weather's Creed, who is being mentored by Rocky. Ryan Coogler,
who previously directed Jordan in that little gem called Fruitvale Station,
will helm the film, which I'm very curious to see, since I enjoyed the last
Rocky.
I
addition, Stallone also confirmed that Rambo will once again be shooting
explosive arrows into people's heads and grind them to a pulp with a machine
gun in the next entry in the franchise, Last Blood: Rambo, and again I loved
the last one so I can't wait to start counting the bodies John leaves behind.
Finally,
the actor revealed that Last Blood will take priority over Brad Furman's (The
Lincoln Lawyer) upcoming gangster movie, Scarpa, which is being “scripted
by Goodfellas and Casino scribe Nicholas Pileggi," and "tells the story of Gregory Scarpa, a former
capo and hit man for the Colombo crime family known as the Grim Reaper.
Scarpa boasted of killing 50 people and eventually turned FBI informant during
his tenure in the mob. Subsequently, Scarpa contracted HIV and died from
AIDS-related complications in 1994.”
