Variety is reporting that director
David Ayer has cast Tom Hardy, Jared Leto, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai
Courtney, and Cara Delevigne to lead Warner Bros. upcoming adaptation of the
Suicide Squad.
As rumored Jared Leto has been
cast as The Joker, Will Smith is set to play Deadshot, Tom Hardy will play Rick
Flag, while Margot Robbie's rumors are also confirmed and the actress will
give life to Harley Quinn. Jay Courtney will be throwing boomerangs as Captain
Boomerang, while Cara Delevigne will bring some magic as Enchantress.
“The Warner Bros. roots are deep on
this one,” said Warner Bros. President Greg Silverman in a statement. “We look
forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under David Ayer’s amazing guidance,
give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a
hero.”
Jesse Eisenberg is still in talks to
reprise his Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Lex Luthor role in Suicide
Squad, and the studio is still looking at actress to play Amanda Waller, like
Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, and Oprah Winfrey, whom they say is the studio's
top choice.
Suicide Squad opens on August 5,
2016.
