This year Marvel's Guardians
of the Galaxy was one of the big budget jewels, so it's understandable that
other studios decide to emulate it.
According to Badass Digest one of the main reasons why Paramount sacked
Robert Orci from his directing duties on the next Star Trek installment was
because they wanted it to be more like Guardians. Orci didn't agree and was
relieved of what was going to be his directorial debut.
"They want the third film to be huge, and they want it to be huge
overseas especially. They look at Rocket and Groot and then
they look at Keenser and they wonder why he doesn't have more of a role." - Devin Faraci
I'm not a huge Star Trek fan but even I know that Guardians of the Galaxy
and Star Trek are two completely different things, so I'm not so sure if going
that way is the right way.
Devin also says that Paramount already offered the job to Edgar Wright, but
he turned it down.
What do you think?
