Paramount Pictures have announced that the next entry in the new Star Trek
big screen franchise is set to hit theaters on July 8, 2016, unlike the two
previous installments, which opened in April.
Earlier this year screenwriter Roberto Orci was revealed to be the studio's
top choice to replace J.J. Abrams who had departed to helm Star Wars: The Force
Awakens, however just a couple of days ago it was announced that Fast &
Furious director Justin Lin had replaced the replacement.
The film's release date coincides with the 50th anniversary of the original
Star Trek series.
