The casting for
Disney's upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is nearly done,
but according to Variety the studio is looking to find its leading lady before
the Christmas holydays. According to them the character will serve as a
romantic interest to Henry, a British soldier set to be played by Brenton
Thwaites.
In the list of
actresses trying for the role, Lucy Boynton (Miss Potter), Alexandra Dowling (Game
of Thrones), Kaya Scodelario (The Maze Runner), Jenna Thiam (The Returned), and
Gabriella Wilde (Carrie) are said to be the frontrunners to get the role.
One of these
actresses will star opposite Thwaites, Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, and Javier Bardem,
who will play the film's villain, Captain Brand, a ghost hellbent on destroying
Jack Sparrow, whom he blames for the death of his brother.
Orlando Bloom played
William Turner in the original trilogy, and is rumored to return as well.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales hits
theaters on July 7, 2017 and will be helmed by Kon-Tiki directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg.
