While promoting her
latest movie the musical Into The Woods, actress Emily Blunt revealed that
besides Black Widow Marvel also offered her the female lead in Captain America:
The First Avenger, Agent Peggy Carter, which would have been interesting since
her husband John Krasinski was at one point eyed to star as Captain America
himself, Steve Rogers.
"It
was never the right time, really," she explains, "and it
just didn't work out scheduling-wise with those two. It's always a difficult
thing to talk about, because it's not fair to the actresses who ended up
playing them, you know? It just wasn't the right time."
As for the rumor that she has
been approached to play Captain Marvel in the July 6, 2018 standalone movie,
Blunt says no.
"No one's offered me that
officially, so it's... very unofficial. I think it's fan-casting, which is
always very nice. But nothing official has been offered, for sure. If I get it,
thank Meryl [Streep] for it!"
