While
at the red carpet event for their Project Greenlight series, Ben Affleck and
Matt Damon confirmed the rumors that the latter will return to the Bourne franchise.
"Well, [Damon's]
going to be doing a Bourne movie next fall when I've just
completely lost any semblance of physical fitness. So….," said Affleck when asked
about both actors physiques now that they both spend a lot of time in the gym
thanks to their respective action stars status.
"Yes,
next year," added Damon. "It'll be in 2016 when the
movie will actually come out. [Director] Paul Greengrass is going to do another
one and that's all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes."
This
will be the third time Damon and Greengrass re-team for a Bourne film, since
the first entry in the franchise was helmed by Edge of Tomorrow director, Doug
Liman.
Jeremy
Renner is still on board for the sequel to his Bourne Legacy, but it looks like
it has been put on the back burner.
