When the dust from Warner Bros. DC
film slate announcement settled down a few things stood out. For me it was that
Suicide Squad would follow Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the other was
that Cyborg was going to have his own standalone film on April 5, 2020, and it seems that my surprise regarding Cyborg, was shared with the actor that is
playing him in BvS: Dawn of Justice, Ray Fisher.
"I didn’t know the extent to
which DC and WB had planned on taking my character. When I signed on, I just
wanted to be part of this world. But that specific information, I found out
then and there. I didn’t think I’d be getting my own stand-alone film."
Fisher confirmed that he has wrapped
up things on Zack Snyder's BvS, and says that with the exception of Henry
Cavill and Ezra Miller, he has met up with most of Justice League, including
Aquaman.
"I
met everyone in the Justice League except Henry Cavill and Ezra Miller," Fisher
revealed. "It was surreal. You get
this idea of going to work on a Hollywood set as being really stressful and
nerve-wracking. But it blew that stereotype away. If they did have stressful
times, it wasn’t while I was there."
Finally, the actor said that fans "are
in for a hell of a treat."
Fisher
doesn't have any movie credits yet, but he gained recognition as a theater actor
when he bulked up 20lbs to play Muhammad Ali in the Broadway play Fetch Clay, Make Man.
The actor
was once rumored up for a role in J.J. Abrams Star Wars: Episode VII, and he
had talks with director Ang Lee for his 3D boxing film about Joe Frazier and Muhammad.
What do
you think?
