It seems that Warner/DC is taking
yet another giant step forward in their cinematic universe (???), as according
to Variety the studio is eyeing End of Watch and upcoming Fury director David
Ayer to helm a "dark and edgy" Suicide Squad live-action adaptation. This
adaptation is being rumored for awhile, but now it looks like the gears are
starting to move, at least at the studio level.
The Suicide Squad team has had
many different incarnations, but Amanda Waller, Deadshot, and King Shark have
been a mainstay for the most part. Harley Quinn was recently introduced as part
of The New 52 and that proved to be quite popular. If added to the film, Quinn
could in theory open some doors for a possible Batman crossover.
Dan Ling is producing from a
script by Justin Marks.
The introduction of characters like Harley Quinn, Amanda Waller, or other villains, shouldn't impact DC's current success with their tv shows, as it has been established that both universes aren't connected.
