A release date for director Scott
Derrickson's take on Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme has been announced by news outlet Screen Daily. According to them Doctor Strange will likely hit theaters on July 8, 2016, with production set to head
to the UK's Pinewood-Shepperton this fall, and filming scheduled for May 2015.
Joaquin Phoenix is reportedly in
talks for the lead role, but nothing has been confirmed just yet, but with a
release date now scheduled we should be hearing casting news sooner rather than
later.
Thomas Dean Donnelly (Dylan Dog:
Dead of Night, Conan the Barbarian), and Joshua Oppenheimer (Sahara, A Sound of
Thunder) provided the earlier drafts, with the final script being written by
Jon Spaihts (Prometheus).
