Warner Bros. has acquired the rights for the
adaptation of the classic 1980's arcade game, Space Invaders, and recruited
Akiva Goldsmith (I Am Legend), Joby Harold (Awake), and Tory Tunnell (Holy
Rollers) as producers.
Those that know the game know it doesn't really have
story, so the studio only needs to incorporate the basics of the game, i.e.
aliens invading, and the rest is just imagination. But let's be honest, this
isn't an adaptation, because there is nothing to adapt. What the studio
actually bought was the title of the game and nothing else (no story, no characters,
no nothing).
I'm envisioning a Battleship type movie where the
characters have to play Space Invaders in order to stop an alien invasion and
thus save the world.
What do you think?
