Marvel Studios is bound to have some pretty big announcements and
reveals at their SDCC panel, but will they reveal who the sorcerer
supreme will be in director Scott Derrickson's live action adaptation
of Doctor Strange?
According
to The Wrap, Gladiator, and Her star, Joaquin Phoenix “has been
mentioned most often for the covet superhero role” and “while
insiders caution there is no deal in place yet, multiple sources say
Phoenix is in consideration and has had discussions”.
Of
course take it with a grain of salt, but there have been some
sightings of the actor growing what seems to be an interest in Doctor
Strange.
One of the comic book stores in CT had Joaquin Phoenix stop by. He was looking for Dr. Strange comics.

Benedict
Cumberbatch, Jared Leto, Tom Hardy, and Justin Theroux, were also
rumored for the role but scheduling conflicts make them all but
impossible to join.
