Paramount Studios and Skydance Productions have finally
landed a writer for the 2016 release, G.I. Joe 3. According to Variety, The
Devil's Advocate, Red Planet, and Shooter screenplay writer Jonathan Lemkin,
has been tapped to pen the script for the new entry in the franchise, which will
have Dwayne Johnson's character, Roadblock as the main character. Adrianne
Palicki, aka Lady Jaye is also set to return.
Director John M. Chu who is currently shooting Jem and
the Holograms live-action movie, was thought to return to the director's chair,
but as of now he's not attached to the project.
Production in the third installment in the Joe
franchise is expected to start in the second quarter of 2015, so it could meet
the 2016 release date.
