Yesterday Fantastic Four fans went crazy when news came out that actress Kata Mara, who is playing Susan Storm in director Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot, said that:
“I’ve
never been a fan of comics, I’ve never actually read one. I was going to for
this movie but the director said it wasn’t necessary. Well, actually he told us
that we shouldn’t do it because the plot won’t be based on any history of
anything already published. So I chose to follow his instructions. The one fact
is I am a fan of comic book movies, so it’s very exciting to be part of a movie
like this.”
The idea of making a
Fantastic Four movie based on nothing from the comics is pretty dumb considering the rich history that the comics have, and...well it looks like the
bold statement was just a mistranslation of the actual interview to Esquire
Latin America, as according to EW (who reached to Mara's rep.), what the
actress actually said was that "the film is not based on one comic, but
rather drawn from the entire canon."
What do you think?
