Box Office Weekend: 04-06 July 2014

In this weekend's countdown, director Doug Liman's Groundhog Day/sci-fi alien invasion movie, Edge of Tomorrow, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt dropped down to tenth place. Kevin Hart's comedy, Think Like a Man Too takes one hell of a tumble, from fourth to ninth. Clint Eastwood's music biopic, Jersey Boys drops two places to eight. Angelina Jolie's Maleficent also drops two spots on the countdown, all the way to seventh. Opening in sixth is director Dave Green's family film, Earth to Echo. In fifth is the sequel How to Train Your Dragon 2, and in fourth is the Tatum/Hill duo in 22 Jump Street.

In third is a new release. Director Scott Derrickson, who will be directing the upcoming Marvel film, Doctor Strange, gives us the horror flick Deliver Us From Evil, starring Eric Bana, Edgar Ramirez, Olivia Munn, and Joel McHale.

In second is also a new release, this time it's Melissa McCarthy's lead comedy Tammy, directed by McCarthy's husband Ben Falcone, and written by both. Tammy also stars Susan Sarandon, Kathy Bates, Dan Aykroyd, Toni Collette, Allison Janney, and Mark Duplass.

And in first….Transformers: Age of Extinction, SURPRISE!
Despite all the critical bashing, Michael Bay's fourth entry in the Transformer's franchise has passed the half-a-billion mark on it's second week.
