Originally scheduled to be
released on June 10th, 2016, The Amazing Spider-Man 3 will now instead open in
2017. The news comes via Spider-Man News, who speculates three reasons as to why
Sony decided to delay the third entry in the franchise.
The first is that the studio
might have been forced to go back to the drawing board because The Amazing
Spider-Man 2 didn't get the commercial and critical reception that the studio
was looking for.
The second reason is that since
Drew Goddard stepped down from his position as director and showrunner of
Marvel/Netflix Daredevil series, to fully focus on the Spider-Man spin-off,
Sinister Six, Sony might have decided to release it in The Amazing Spider-Man 3
original release slot.
The third is that, because Marc
Webb is basically on loan from Fox to Sony, he may need to shot a movie for Fox
before he moves on to direct the next Amazing Spider-Man movie.
What reason do you think is more
plausible?
