Two things marked Bryan Singer's
return to the X-Men franchise. The first was one of the best X-Men movies ever
made and the second were the director's very public legal troubles, and the
latter might dictate whether he will return to direct the sequel, X-Men:
Apocalypse, or not.
It seems that the studio is quite
nervous about bring him back, not because of the veracity or not of the sexual
abuse claim, but because they feel that, it might interfere and/or delay the
production and lose them money should the director need to go to court.
“They don’t really care whether he’s innocent or guilty — they’re only concerned with the bottom line,
which is giving him another $250 to $350 million to make Apocalypse. There have been
talks about who else he’d let direct it, with him producing, but those led to
heated arguments and walk outs,” said a source to Radar
Online.
The site goes on to say that, the
studio is looking at how far back they can delay production without changing
the release date for Apocalypse.
Whether Singer directs Apocalypse
or not, he will still be paid, as his deal with the studio was to direct both
films, and was finalized months ago.
As always, you should take this
with a grain of salt.
