Things are definitely not well on Marvel's Ant-Man.
After Adam McKay exited negotiations, now it's We're the Miller's director, Rawson
Thurber turn to pass down the project. It looks like the project is radioactive
and no director wants to go near it.
The problem now is that directors know that they
weren't the first choice to helm the tentpole, nor the second, nor the third,
it's about respect, I think, so it will be increasingly difficult for Marvel to
find a director willing to swallow his/her pride and direct the movie. They
would probably be better choosing an in-house writer (maybe one of the writers
that made the changes to Wright's script) to helm the project.
Zombieland director, Ruben Fleischer, was also in the
list of contenders for the job, but he might be otherwise engaged, as it seems that he might be doing the new Ghostbusters
movie (don't hold your breath).
In other news, Marvel has found a director for the
Doctor Strange movie.
So Rawson Marshall Thurber already passed on ANT-MAN, the movie that no self-respecting director appears to want to adopt?
