After a period of comic books adaptations, fantasy and
sci-fi, Guillermo del Toro returns to the genre that made him jump to the eyes
of everyone, horror.
The director has two project lined up, the movie Crimson
Peak, which premieres in 2015, and the 13-episode tv show, The Strain that will
air this July, 13th on FX, and stars Corey Stoll as Dr. Ephraim
Goodweather, the head of the CDC Canary Team from New York, who with his team
are called to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak of what seems to be
ancient strain of vampirism. As the virus spreads Eph, his team and a group of
everyday citizens fight for survival in the streets of New York.
The show also stars Sean Astin, Kevin Durand, John
Hurt, Mia Maestro, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel and Jack Kesy.
The Strain was written by Chuck Hogan, Regina Corrado,
and Guillermo del Toro, who also directed it.
