One of the hit actresses of the moment and hopefully
for many, many years to come is Jennifer Lawrence, who will wrap her marquee franchise, The Hunger Games in November of
next year, so if the actress is looking to tap into another one, maybe Mystique
is the way to go.
In a recent, interview to EW, X-Men: Days of Future
Past producer Lauren Shuler Donner talked about the X-Men spinoffs, and once
again expressed her wishes for a Deadpool and Gambit standalone movies.
“There was a regime [at the studio]
that didn’t see the worth in [spin-offs], and the current people who run
Fox understand, embrace it, and we’re going to do right by it,” said the
producer. “I’d like to do Gambit. I’d like to do Deadpool. We’ll see. There’s a
lot of really great characters.”
Producer and writer Simon Kinberg
then added, that a Jennifer Lawrence is doing a great job as Mystique and that
the actress might need a little more room, i.e. less X-Men to really shine.
“I love what Jen Lawrence has done
with [Mystique], and I feel like because she is in such a crowded ensemble,
there’s so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo.”
Many fans are still hoping to see the
Deadpool franchise but given actor Ryan Reynolds recent gravitas or lack thereof,
allied to the fact that the film needed to be an R-Rated movie, don't expect to
see it announced anytime soon.
