One of the key features that Marvel Studios has done
with their cinematic universe is set release dates years in advance; letting (DC)
others know that they already have plans. One of such dates is the upcoming May
6th, 2016 timeslot, which although at the time had just a question
mark on, it let other studios (DC) know that they had a movie coming out in
that date, so it was a bit of surprise when Warner Bros./DC announced that they
were going to re-schedule Zack Snyder’s Batman vs. Superman and move it from
July 17th, 2015 to May 6th, 2016, thus creating one big problem
for both companies and one big smile for fans, which got even bigger when
yesterday it was confirmed that for that date Marvel Studios will be releasing Captain
America 3. So as it stands Captain America 3 and Batman vs. Superman will open
on the same day, or will they? Captain America: The Winter Soldier screenwriter
Christopher Markus thinks different.
In an interview to THR, Markus says he believes one of
the studios will back down.
"I think when two cars drive at each other, somebody
has to veer off eventually… There's always a level of expectation and Marvel
keeps raising the bar higher and higher. But you have confidence that they're
going to make a good movie, you kind of let yourself go and allow yourself to
be directed. And you really just become one small piece of the Marvel
puzzle."
I believe it will be Marvel the one to back down. If
they were to release an Avengers movie on that slot, we would be having a different
conversation but giving that it will be a third installment of Captain America,
I’m not sure Cap packs a powerful enough punch to take down Batman, Superman,
Wonder Woman and god knows who else DC is throwing in.
Regarding Captain America 3, Markus will return and
says things moving along.
"We've had many, many conversations, and pretty
much know where we're going,"
What do you think? Who will back down first, Marvel or
DC?
