Now that things were starting to
get interesting director Marc Webb says it’s time to get out from The Amazing
Spider-Man franchise.
In 2012 director Marc Webb open
the Spider-Man floodgates in The Amazing Spider-Man, which not only gave us the
titular character and respective love interest, but also an interesting and intriguing
backstory to Peter Parker. This year with The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Webb will develop
that story and will introduce new and unseen villains, plus a little tease of
things to come (Sinister Six and Venom). And on May 4th, 2018 with
The Amazing Spider-Man 3 we will see the end of Webb’s work as director of the
franchise, as he says that for the forth entry in the franchise the studios
needs to bring another director to take his spot.
In an interview to The DailyBeast, Webb says that three films will it for him:
"I'd like to be involved as
a consultant," he said about the fourth entry, "and I've already
talked to these guys about it, but in terms of directing it, that will close
out my tenure. I've had so much fun doing it, but after the third movie, it'll
be the time to find something else."
